QUEEN MARY 2 VISITS COBH
CUNARD'S QUEEN MARY 2 PAYS ANOTHER VISIT TO THE HARBOUR TOWN OF COBH TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2011.
RMS Queen Mary 2 is a trans atlantic ocean liner. At the time of her construction in 2003, Queen Mary 2 was the longest, tallest, widest passenger ship ever built and still remains the largest ocean liner (as opposed to cruise liner) ever built.
Queen Mary 2's facilities include 15 restaurants and bars, 5 swimming pools, a casino, a ballroom, a theatre and the first planetarium at sea. There are also kennels on board as well as a nursery. Queen Mary 2 is one of the few ships afloat today to have remnants of a class system on board, most prominently seen in her dining options.
While we enjoy the many cruise liners that visit Cobh over the year, this Trans Atlantic Liner holds a special place in our hearts as it reminds us of our strong links with The Titanic, who's 100 Anniversary takes place April 2012.
Queen Mary 2 will sail into Cork Harbour at approx. 7am and will dock next to the Heritage Centre in Cobh. This gives visitors and locals a great opportunity to admire the ship up close. She will set sail to the sounds of Cobh Confraternity Band at 5pm along with waves and cheers from well wishers on the shore.
IF YOU ARE VISITING COBH FOR THE DAY TO SEE THIS MAGNIFICENT OCEAN LINER, THEN BE SURE TO PAY US A VISIT AT THE COMMODORE HOTEL FOR LUNCH, DINNER OR JUST A COFFEE!

45th International Deep Sea Angling Festival
THE COMMODORE HOTEL WELCOMES ANGLERS TO THE 45TH INTERNATIONAL DEEP SEA ANGLING FESTIVAL.
The Festival which started today Monday 5th September will run until Friday 9th September. Over 50 Anglers from over 6 nations will compete in a multitude of categories.
Cobh International Deep Sea Angling Festival is one of the longest running and most prestigious events in the Irish and European calendar.
The competition is known all over Europe for its competitiveness and fairness. Points are awarded according to species and weight of fish caught. All fish are weighed on board the boats and are returned alive to the water unless the angler wishes to retain it for eating. Our Head Chef, Rory, is only too happy to prepare the freshly caught fish for dinner. The week will conclude on Friday evening with the presentation of prizes and Gala Dinner in the Commodore Hotel.
